That is great! We always suggest you keep your general neurologist and/or movement disorder specialist if you have one. Since Magnolia Care is entirely virtual, it is best to have an in-person neurologist that you trust, should a need arise. You and your NP will work with your existing providers and care team to whatever degree you both agree upon. Example: Your specialized Nurse Practitioner (NP) will manage and treat your Parkinson's care closely with frequent virtual visits, and will update your neurologist every step of the way with recommendations, medication changes, treatment plans, etc. We may ask your providers to regularly update us so that we are always on the same page. Since Magnolia visits are often longer than in-person visits, your NP may supplement your existing care team by digging deeper, and addressing, assessing, and managing the numerous motor and non-motor symptoms that may not be at the forefront of an expedited routine visit. Example: Anxiety or depression may be negatively affecting you more than physical symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Your NP will work with you (and any relevant members of your care team) to create a plan of action . This may entail non-pharmacological treatment, medication, or both. Your NP is looking at you as a whole patient, and that includes understanding a broader health picture. Example: We may consider starting a medication for your Parkinson's motor symptoms. Your NP may call your cardiologist prior to starting the medication, as it can affect your blood pressure. Together, we may decide to reduce the dose of your hypertension medication. Patients already established with a Movement Disorders Center may already see their existing provider(s) a few times a year, and choose to supplement this by seeing their Magnolia NP for longer and/or more frequent visits. Additional assessments are helpful to arm your entire team with more data to make better care decisions. Your NP is more than happy to provide detailed recommendations and communicate with your provider(s) as needed, as often as you wish, and at your discretion. Care coordination is our bread and butter at Magnolia -- it is a vital part of our services.

Patients must be located in Massachusetts or Washington state currently, and cannot be seen otherwise. We hope to add on more states in the future . Patients will need to verbally confirm their physical location at each visit.

You will see a Nurse Practitioner specialized in movement disorders, with extensive experience treating individuals at every stage of the disease process. They will also be your point of contact. We have movement disorder neurologists in our network, with whom we regularly connect.
